Asthma Project – Connie Street

Continuation of outreach project

One hour out of semester

Need four committees

Would like to have mostly P1 participation

Professional Fraternities – Dolder and Nelson

Pros:

Fun experience and benefit to students and school

Description:

-Pharmacists and students of pharmacy

-leadership, service, and professionalization

-emphasis is not on social activities although that is one aspect

-work, time, and commitment

-lifelong friendships and networking

-leadership opportunities: governing body in the fraternity

-community service

-national competitions

 

Phi Delta Chi

-Dolder and Nelson would serve as co-advisors

To found:

-petition, at least 10 students interested in committing to process of start up

-if approved, semester’s worth of fraternal education

-national officers visit and initiation

-charter would be signed as early as the end of this summer

- initial information meeting: 5:30 on 1-27-04; details and process to join

-one additional meeting following (no set date yet)

 

General questions:

-Has anyone considered Ro Chi (honor’s society)?

Both this and Phi Lambda Sigma (leadership fraternity) will be instated here

-Will undergrads be allowed to join?

Currently undergrad pre-pharm students are allowed to join PILLS and should have access to join fraternities

-Can we vote no, but yes next year?

This can be delayed until the students feel they are ready to invite these programs in

Vote will be taken in 2 weeks

Undergrad Pre-pharmacy Forum at Wingate

Undergrad forum will be February 8, 2005

-give students an idea of what they will need to do to get in

-refreshments will need to be provided

-another meeting will be held later to discuss what the first year is like
