Old Business:

Habitat for humanity: Thanks for everyone who participated.  In the future, be sure that you represent with the program with professionalism at all times.

NCAP meeting: Forms are available for P2 registration after class.  P1's will be registered by Faculty.

Clinical Skills competition: Tuesday 10/5/04, 7-10am.  Contact Shane for forms from the last three years [examples from past competitions].

New Business:

Medicare Rx Drug Benefit:

Over of Part D and additional costs with the added drug benefit

enrollment: begins 12/15/05

Regulations so far are not yet finalized and CMS is asking for help by soliciting feedback

Implement MTMS (medication therapy management services): pharmacists will be reimbursed for this service

our goals: increase representation of the profession; increase benefits across the entire profession

Deadline to submit letter to be mailed by the school to CMS is Monday 10/04/04

There is a document available from APhA with an overview of the legislation

specific questions addressed:

Pharmacy providers, Quality Assurance standards, cost effectiveness of drug utilization, implementation of MTMS, pharmacist reimbursement

You may use the form letter emailed to you.  P2 class will receive 2 points extra credit in Law in you sign the letter, up to 5 points for adding your own thoughts or writing your own letter.
